Crocheting Cables

People often ask me what I like better, crocheting or knitting. In general I like the look of knitting better, but there are some great advantages to crochet. For one, crochet is much easier to fix if you make a mistake. You simply rip out to where the mistake was and keep going …. You can’t do that with knitting. But knitting can create beautiful cables and lacework so often I made hats by knitting. I never explored cabling with crochet until I stumbled upon All About Ami’s cabled beanie pattern.

Knitting uses less yarn so I could have made a similar beanie with less than a skein. But the crochet version is thicker and warmer.
